Texas Trust CU Theatre at Grand Prairie
Get ready for a trip down memory lane with romantic songs and funky hair! To be fair to Flans, they embraced the fact that the three of them had left their youth behind and now do their hair more conventionally. There are always fans at their concerts, though, with the funky hairstyles that they made popular in the 80s and 90s. On the other end are the elegance and the amazing vocals that have always been the staple of Pandora. Both trios will grace the stage of the Texas Trust CU Theatre at Grand Prairie on Sunday, June 9th.
In their heyday, these groups were almost rivals! Now, they realize that they’re able to bring people to arenas if they work together. They’ve done over 100 shows together as part of the “Inesperado Tour.” In fact, the title of the tour translates to unexpected, which is a play on the idea that their fan bases also felt that there was a rivalry between the trios who now work together. Expect a bunch of nostalgia and upbeat Spanish music from Flans in Grand Prairie on June 9th. Both Flans and Pandora have essentially grown up in the shadow of each other. Pandora, which is the trio formed by the Lascuráin sisters and Fernanda Meade, had a bit of a longer road to stardom through the 80s. It was officially in 1985, though, when they launched their debut album. That same year, Ilse, Ivonne, and Mimi were cast in a TV show that later turned into the musical group that we know today as Flans. There’s an argument to be made that the show in Grand Prairie on June 9th has been more than 35+ years in the making.
As mentioned, the Pandoras have always been considered the trio with the better vocals of the two. That’s evident in some of their greatest hits, like “Como Te Va Mi Amor” or their rendition of the popular Mexican song “Amor Eterno.” This vocal superiority allowed them to appeal to an older audience from the beginning.
On the other hand, Flans were always more of a girl band, the trendsetters, the ones who appealed to the younger crowd. Mind you, the members of both groups are around the same age. This difference between the groups will still be evident at the Texas Trust CU Theatre at Grand Prairie on Sunday, June 9th.
Pandora is going to come out and sit on three stools or just basically stand around the stage without too many movements. It’s their voices that are literally going to be doing the talking! The Lascuráin sisters have always been considered some of the best female singers in all of Mexico.
When Flans hit the stage in Grand Prairie, though, expect more screams and people dancing in the aisles. The Flans experience is all about giving their long-time fans some of their joyful youth years back. Even though these three ladies are also in their 60s or getting there, they can still bust a move.
Doors are set to open at 7 on June 9th with the ladies expected to hit the stage around 8. One of the things about Texas Trust Theater that’s important to keep in mind is that some of the side seating options may have obstructed views. This depends on how the performers set up the stage. Also, there’s not too much of a height difference between the levels. The front rows of the second and third levels may not be ideal seating arrangements.
