Texas Trust CU Theatre at Grand Prairie
The Nitty Gritty Band has been a staple of soft rock and country music for ages! In 2025, they've announced they're going on the "All the Good Times, The Farewell Tour." Jeff Hanna has been in music his entire life, and at 77, he's thinking about going out to pasture. His son Jaime Hanna has been on tour with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band since 2018, making these events a family affair. You'll be able to sense that air of familiarity at the Texas Trust CU Theater in Grand Prairie come Friday, March 28th.
Rodney Crowell will be the opening act on this night. He'll come out singing hits like "It Ain't Over Yet." That's a fitting name for a track on a farewell tour. It ain't over yet for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, but this stop in Grand Prairie is currently the last confirmed show! At the end of the night, it may very well be over. The best of soft rock and country music found a home in the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Tracks like Fishin' in the Dark are a perfect example of this mixture. It's the country life with a much stronger guitar line than what you would find in your average country song! This might be the farewell tour, but Jeff Hanna is still at the top of his game. That's one of the coolest things about this tour. Some of the guys that have been with the band for a long time are still very much able to put on a show like it was 1980 something!
There's a vibe that bands like the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band were able to generate. Unfortunately, a lot of these old-time performers have moved on. There's no guarantee that this show in Grand Prairie, come Friday, March 28th, will be the last dance, but it's looking like it. That's going to bring an extra layer of nostalgia to the night. If you've been a fan of the band for the longest time, this stop is the one that you have to circle on your calendar. Maybe down the line, we get a reboot from Jaime Hanna singing all of the greatest hits from these icons. This might be the final stop, though, for Jeff Hanna. Mr. Bojangles is going to hit differently on this night. Get ready to have a lot of feelings flow through you. The entire Texas Trust CU Theatre at Grand Prairie might be an emotional wreck come Friday, March 28th. If that's the case, that means we've had a great show!
