Lake Street Dive is a genre blending powerhouse of s band that has been bringing the vibes since 2004. Originally Formed by Rachel Price, Mike Olson, Bridget Kearney, and Mike Calabrese, the band then went on to evolve in 2021 when Mike Olson stepped away, making room for Akie Bermiss and James Cornelison jo join the crew we know and love today!
Funny enough they had initially set out to be a “free Country Band” focusing solely on country music but that idea didn’t stick for very long, thankfully! Instead, they embraced a multi-genre approach, mixing rock, jazz, R&B and pop which turned out to be a massive game changer for them, helping them reach a huge and diverse audience creating lifelong fans along the way!
Their name is inspired by Bryant Lake Bowl, a Minneapolis hangout where they spent a lot of their early days hanging out. By the time 2013 and 2014 came around, they were hitting the road hard, playing over three hundred shows, across one hundred and seventy-five cities, forty-three states and eight countries! That king of hustle paid off, earning them a dedicated following and multiple should out shows, including over forty packed venues at the start of 2014 alone!
Even as they scaled back their schedule in 2017 and 2018, they still managed to play one hundred and eighty-three shows, this time stretching their reach even further across North America, Europe, Japan, New Zealand and Australia. In 2022 they dropped “Fun Machine: The Sequel” which they described as the ultimate dive bar setlist with deep cuts, sentimental favorites and absolute bangers of crowd pleasers, just like they would play at a weekly gig in their hometown for five bucks a head!
