Ashanti at Texas Trust CU Theatre

R&B Summer Groove 2025

Us here at Texas Trust CU Theatre, located right in Grand Prairie and one of the premier venues in the city, are so excited to welcome Ashanti and all the talented acts on the list to town for their mega show being dubbed the R&B Summer Groove 2025 - the first ever of its kind, though we’re hoping not the last! Hitting the Trust stage on Saturday July 12, the showcase will see Ashanti headlining the event and no doubt givining us some early 2000s vibes as she plays hits from her catalog - mixed with some new singles here and there too. And even better - Ashanti isn’t coming alone, because that’s just not her style and she always brings the party. Joining the queen of R&B will also be Dru Hill, Scola, Nokia, Sisqo, Smoke, Black, and Jazz as supporting acts  to warm up the stage before Ashanti attacks it. Pieces are still being put together for how this will all go down for the mid July show - but with nine stars performing, we know it’s gonna be way too lit - and that you’ll be so pressed if you miss out.

Ashanti got her start at a young age in New York City when she was discovered first by her mother as a musical talent, and then by the entire world as she performed at small talent shows and festivals during high school around the city. From the start she had interest from many different record labels and superstars, and she eventually began writing and doing back vocals for artists signed to Def Jam. She also found early success being extras in Spike Lee films and The Fast And The Furious 1, and contributing to artists in the NYC scene any way she could. She paid her dues and played the game, and in 2002, saw her collaborations on Fat Joe’s What’s Luv? and Ja Rule’s Always On Time reach mega heights on the Billboard charts. She was the first woman to have top #1 and #2 singles on Billboard both at the same time, and it cemented her stardom all before she was 25. 

Ashanti then went on to release her mega hit album, titled Ashanti, which had the major tracks Foolish and Happy. She sold half a million copies in the first week of the album, and it won her 8 Billboard Music awards, and a GRAMMY for best R&B Contemporary Album. Ashanti has always been a force in the music industry - coming seemingly like a shooting star to bless the NYC rap scene back in the early 2000s - and now, to cement her decades long domination with concerts and tours wherever she pleases. And we’re so here for it.
