Dream Theater in concert is no ordinary gig.
Words can’t do them justice. They are thrilling, showcasing incredible, tasteful songcrafting. The music is excellent – from the quirky intro, frantic rhythms, and crazy instrumentation in “The Alien” to the jaunty opening grooves, deft key changes, and impressive instrumental sections of “Sleeping Giant”; from the heaviness, yet super-melodic “Bridges in the Sky” to the exceptional guitar solos, keys built on melodic volume swells, and gentle melodies of “The Count of Tuscany”. They are tight down to every last semiquaver, versatile, and awe-inspiring.
Dream Theater is no ordinary gig, and there is nothing like experiencing them firsthand.
An Evening With Dream Theater will see the return of co-founding member and drummer, Mike Portnoy, who will take the stage with the group for the first time since 2010 to perform the classics and fan favorites from their extensive catalog, and possibly some hints at some new material.
It is no ordinary gig. Dream Theater is an unparalleled sonic and visual experience.
When Dream Theater dropped their debut album “When Dream And Day Unite” in 1989, with their subsequent 1992 album, “Images And Words”, reaching the Billboard 200 chart, it was clear that something extraordinary was coming. Their fifth album, “Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory”, has been ranked by Guitar World as one of the 100 greatest guitar albums of all time, which comes as no surprise given guitarist John Petrucci’s incredible skill as a guitarist. During the course of their career, Dream Theater has released 15 studio albums, sold over 12 million records worldwide, and cemented themselves as one of the ‘big three’ of progressive metal, along with Queensrÿche and Fates Warning. Their accolades include a Grammy Award and an induction into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame, along with a large number of top rankings by Ultimate Guitar Archive, Classic Rock, Rolling Stone, MusicRadar, Metal Edge, and The Prog Report.
The 6,350-seat Texas Trust CU Theatre is about to literally turn into a dream theatre, filled with mind-blowing music. With its state-of-the-art lighting and sound technology, luxurious seats spread across the main floor, mezzanine, and ‘King’s Row’ in front of the mezzanine, the ultimate concert experience is guaranteed.
Dream Theater in concert is no ordinary gig. It is an experience, and you have to see it for yourself!
